The Artist in Residence program was originally established in 1972 with artist Wayne Thiebaud and is a continuing project coordinated by the Fullerton College Art Department. The beginning of a 2013 sculpture project for the City of Brea, California including 6 eight feet high 3 sided columns and 2 undulating seating sculptures shown at Marlo's studio to New York artist Jack Bolen and his musician wife Pamela Bolen. Marlo has been producing and installing permanent wall pieces, sculpture, murals and functional art since 1977. He works with ceramic tile, terrazzo & stone; shaping, forming and glazing the clay elements by hand. With the support of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C., he has developed new techniques for fabricating furniture and sculptures, using tile facings on ferro-cement with polystyrene substrates. His work includes sculpture, indoor and outdoor walls, fountains, floors and functional art and features durability and low-maintenance.
